Delphi headed to Rossville Tuesday evening to take on the Hornets for the last away game of the regular season. The Oracles were looking to avenge their 5-1 loss from earlier in the season, but the Hornets didn’t waste time on the attack as senior goalkeeper Brayton Slifer tallied two saves in the opening minutes after a barrage of shots. The game remained scoreless until later in the first half when sophomore Daniel Jakes chipped a ball to the far post off of an assist from junior Robin Koslowski. Jakes would notch a second off an assist from junior Jairo Gonzalez to give the Oracles a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Delphi continued to push on offense at the beginning of the second half which led to senior Isaias Cervantes scoring from close range to go up 3-0. However, the Hornets didn’t waiver as they scored two goals to keep Delphi in check for the remainder of the game for a final score of 3-2. Sophomore Cole Rickels continued his streak of solid play out at the wing by constantly pressuring in the offensive third without comprising his defensive role.
The Oracles move to 5-8-1 overall. Delphi will host Rochester Thursday evening for both the last home and regular season match of the year. The Boys Soccer program has designated this as senior night, and the seniors will be honored at halftime.
