Delphi made a season-high 14 3-pointers in a 72-48 rout of Frontier Friday night at DCHS in a record-setting night for senior point guard Brent Hawn. Hawn scored a game-high 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting from 3-point range and became just the eighth Oracle to surpass 1,000 career points, while also setting school records for most 3-pointers in a game (10), season (78) and career (229) during the contest, breaking the season (75) and career (223) marks set by Cole Murray. He had previously shared the record for most treys made in a game (8) with Murray, his brother Austin Hawn and Nathan Beach. Delphi took control of the game early, jumping ahead 8-0 and then 19-4 at the end of the 1st period, before settling for a 29-18 lead at the half after making 6-of-12 from beyond the arc, including 5-of-7 from Hawn. The Falcons (4-18) never got closer than nine the rest of the way as the Oracles extended the margin to 49-32 at the end of the 3rd period before cruising to the 24-point final margin. “We made a lot of shots,” Delphi head coach Adam Ballard said. “When our shots are falling like that, we are very tough to beat.” “But we have to be careful about settling and becoming too satisfied with outside shots,” he added. “Defensively, we played a great 1st quarter and did some nice things in the 2nd quarter as well.” The Oracles limited Frontier to only 2-of-12 shooting from 3-point range (16.7 percent), forced 19 turnovers and outrebounded the Falcons by a season-high margin of 36-19. Blaine Walters added 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists, followed by Mason Lane with nine points, Cade Murray six, Cole Kesling five, Weston Windell four, and Tyler Ross and Vladimir Danicic with two each. Delphi (11-11) hosts North White Friday night with a 6 pm JV tip-off in the regular season finale.
