By Chip Dale | Jan 10, 2026 12:06 PM
The night started off with an impressive victory on January 9, when the Varsity Girls defeating Carroll 48–37 in a hard-fought contest. Delphi came out strong, taking an early 15–10 lead after the first quarter. The Oracles continued to control the pace, heading into halftime up 25–14. Carroll battled back in the third quarter, but Delphi’s balanced scoring and tough defense sealed the win. All night the Oracles pestered the Cougars with their full court pressure, and frustrated them in the half-court controlling the tempo of the game from tip to the final horn. Add in an electric student section and it was all Delphi. Final Score: • Delphi: 15 | 10 | 10 | 13 — 48 • Carroll: 10 | 4 | 14 | 9 — 37 Top Performers for Delphi: • #11 A. Mills led the way with 13 points, showing consistency throughout the game. • #3 A. Lattimore added 12 points, going 8 for 8 from the charity stripe • #1 K. Anderson and #24 A. Brown both contributed 9 points, helping maintain momentum. In the second game the boys came out firing leading the first quarter 13-11, and started the second quarter with a nice run. The Cougars would claw their way back into it, and hit a buzzer beating layup to take the lead at the half 29-31. The second half had the Cougars stretching the lead and the Oracles going on short runs to reduce it. Entering the 4th quarter Delphi trailed by 6, but would hold the home team to just 5 points in the final frame. Caulden Pulver would draw a foul down one with 16 seconds remaining, and tie the game up. The Cougars drew a foul, but missed both shots, and it was rebounded by Weston Brown (his 6th of the night). The Oracles used a double timeout to setup the final play at the 10 second line with only a few seconds remaining on the clock. McAtee who had been a sharpshooter all night ran as a decoy and the Oracles cleared the lane for Xaine Tessier to drive and hit the go ahead layup 52-50. Pandemonium ensued as the student section mobbed him, but the Cougars had called a timeout from the bench with 0.8 seconds remaining and the officials reset the clock. The Delphi full court press prevented a close last second heave, and the 3/4 court shot aired wide, as the student section returned to celebrate with the boys. Top Performers for Delphi: • #2 K. McAtee led the way with 23 points and 6 rebounds, showing consistency throughout the game. • #4 X. Tessier added 11 points including the game winner • #21 L. The boys return to action the next day on January 10th against a strong Caston Comet squad at home in Oracle Arena, and the girls will travel to Faith Christian to face the Eagles on Tuesday January 13th. Both games tip off at 6p with JV to start the night. The boys improved to 7-3 (2-2) and the girls move to 11-6 (3-2).
