The Matchup: Delphi Oracles vs. Western Boone Stars Date: Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026 Team Records & Recent Form Delphi (16–6) enters on a strong run, with wins over Sheridan (55–42), Eastern (57–22) and Logansport (48–23) in late January as part of a 8 game surge, winning 10 of their last 11 games to end the regular season. They finished with a conference record of 6-2 earning a three way tie for 2nd place in the Hoosier Heartland Conference. Western Boone (9–14) has shown resilience down the stretch, including a 37–32 road win over Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Jan. 29 and competitive performances vs. Cascade and Tri West even though the results didn’t end in their favor. They finished 6th in the Monon Athletic Conference with a 3-4 record. Delphi averages 50.1 ppg to Western Boone’s 44.7 ppg The Stars hold a slight rebounding advantage where, Delphi averages 30.0 per game to Western Boone’s 34.5 per game Delphi holds advantages with 12.0 assists per game and 13.9 steals per game compared to WeBo’s 10.1 and 9.7. Player Spotlights (MaxPreps) Delphi – Fr. G/F Ava Mills: 13.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 3.6 apg, 3.2 spg, 52% FG. Mills leads Delphi in every major category and sets the two way tone. Western Boone – Jr. G/F Ally Lewis: 14.2 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.9 spg Common Opponents Delphi has the edge in common opponents (6–1 vs. 3–4 for Western Boone), including wins over Frankfort, North Montgomery, Carroll (Flora), Faith Christian, Sheridan, and Clinton Prairie; Western Boone owns notable wins over Carroll (Flora), Frankfort, and Clinton Prairie. Both teams lost to Rossville by double digits. Delphi (Season team leaders): Scoring: Ava Mills 13.6 ppg; Payton Morrow 10.5 ppg Rebounding: Mills 8.4 rpg Playmaking/Defense: Mills 3.6 apg / 3.2 spg While the freshman holds the statistical advantages she is surrounded by a core of 3 seniors in Lattimore (5.7 ppg 2.6 spg), Frost (6.2 ppg), and Brown who have competed in the IKHC Championship game as well as a Sectional Championship game. Junior Forward Payton Morrow is a major cog in the Oracles squad (10.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg), Freshman sharpshooter Kiyah Anderson (6.9 ppg), Sophomore Sami Leopard, and Freshman Zoe Miller will all contribute valuable minutes. Western Boone (Season team leaders): Scoring: Ally Lewis 14.2 ppg; Emmerson Gott 7.7 ppg; Ila Stokes 7.3 ppg Boards & Rim Protection: Lewis 7.3 rpg, Gott 6.8 rpg / 1.3 bpg Table setting: Stokes 3.7 apg Game tempo & averages: Delphi: 50.1 ppg, 30.0 rpg, 12.0 apg, 13.9 spg Western Boone: 44.7 ppg, 34.5 rpg, 10.1 apg, 9.7 spg Keys to the Game 1. Glass Control vs. Pace: Western Boone’s rebounding advantage (34.5 rpg) must counter Delphi’s turnover pressure (13.9 spg) and quick strikes. If the Stars can limit live ball giveaways and create extra shots, they could find an advantage and control the contest. On the other hand, the Oracles pressure and ball sharing if left unchecked could be the difference in the match-up. 2. Primary Scorers: The Mills vs. Lewis head to head is a marquee 2A match-up—both lead their teams in scoring and rebounding; who wins this head to head likely tilts the result in their teams favor. If Mills is limited the Oracles will need to rely heavily on Payton Morrow and Kiyah Anderson to make up the difference. 3. Common Opponent Edge: Delphi’s 6–1 mark vs. mutual opponents (WB 3–4) suggests the Oracles have been slightly steadier in comparable game profiles. Historical & Sectional Context Delphi’s 2025-26 arc: The Oracles surged after the holiday break, fueled off of a huge win against Winamac in the Indiana Kitchen Holiday Classic, finishing 16–6 heading into sectionals, with notable wins over West Lafayette, North Montgomery and a strong stretch in January. Western Boone’s 2025-26 arc: A challenging schedule produced growth moments—wins at Clinton Prairie and Frankfort, plus the road result at Cardinal Ritter show WB’s capability in tight, low possession games. Sectional hierarchy this week: Local reports tab Rensselaer Central as the favorite, with Benton Central a strong contender, but the Delphi/Western Boone winner is positioned to test the hosts Friday night for a chance at the title, and the Sectional 37 Cinderella Story. John Harrell Prediction: Oracles 50 - Stars 40
