The road to the IHSAA Wrestling State Tournament intensifies this weekend as Delphi Community High School prepares to compete in the IHSAA Logansport Regional Saturday morning. Delphi advances 4 wrestlers to the Regional after earning qualification out of the Lafayette Jefferson Sectional. According to IndianaMat’s official Regional #4 preview, the Logansport field features a deep and competitive lineup. Schools scheduled to compete include Delphi, Benton Central, Carroll (Flora), Faith Christian, Frontier, Harrison (West Lafayette), Lafayette Central Catholic, Lafayette Jefferson, McCutcheon, North White, Pioneer, Rensselaer Central, Seeger, Tri County, Twin Lakes, West Central, and West Lafayette among others—an atmosphere packed with talent and postseason pedigree. Though the Delphi roster is still developing from the program’s lowest point in 2021 with only 4 members on the team, the tradition of producing strong postseason competitors continues to inspire the next generation. Delphi wrestlers take pride in representing one of the regional’s longest standing programs, and past Oracles have risen to the challenge on this very stage. The competitive landscape at Logansport—filled with ranked athletes from Harrison (WL), Rensselaer Central, West Lafayette, and others—creates an ideal proving ground for ascending Delphi wrestlers to make their mark. Last week Wyatt Tudor won the Jeff 144 lb Sectional Championship in a decisive fashion, and Isaiah Frost finished runner-up at 175 in a match he wrestled well but struggled against a strong Broncho opponent in the finals. Also advancing for Delphi were Reid Allread with a very good performance at 215, and Ethan McIlrath at 285. The top 4 wrestlers in the 8 team field will advance to the East Chicago Central Semi-State to face a loaded field that combines the Lafayette area with the Region in the Northwest corner of the state.
