The boys entered the weekend with back-to-back double digit run performances, The girls struggled to close out games early on, but had a dominant performance to finish off their week of conference match-ups. Baseball April 24: Delphi 12-Pioneer 0 Fresh off a combined 27 run double mercy rule week in HHC play against Carroll and Sheridan, the Panthers came to town. Due to some rain showers, the Oracles utilized the tarps to save a game and delayed the start by about an hour. Once the rain subsided and the field was prepped the sunshine kept the bats warm as the home team posted their 3rd consecutive mercy rule win. Levi Coghill pitched a gem going 4.1 innings and recording 9 strikeouts. He combined to shutout Pioneer with Cason Mills. Coghill would help his own cause going 2 for 2 and driving in 1 run. Keygan Elliott was also 2 for 2 scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Xaine Tessier went 1 for 2 with 2 runs and 1 drove in while swiping one bag. Brett Huffman was walked and scored all 4 times he appeared at the plate adding in 3 stolen bases, and Tayte Bernhardt scored 3 runs to round out the offensive stats. It was a total team domination as the Oracles posted 4, 4, and 3 runs in the the first three offensive half innings. April 27: Rained out Due to the heavy storms all evening competitions were cancelled on Monday. Softball April 25: Delphi 2-Benton Central 12 The ladies headed to Oxford on Saturday morning to face potential Sectional opponent Benton Central. In difficult windy conditions the girls struggled to record outs as BC kept the pressure on the Oracle defense going 15 or 30. Bison Freshman Sydney Groves held the potent Delphi hitters to just a 0.100 batting average on the day striking out 12 and stranding 7 runners on the base paths. Sami Leopard was the lone run scorer, she was drove in by Ava Mills once and Airy Lattimore once. Benton Central was able to methodically just add runs together to take the game by mercy rule never scoring more than 3 at a time (2-2-3-1-2). April 27: Rained out Due to the heavy storms all evening competitions were cancelled on Monday. JV lost to Benton Central on Saturday 3-11 in a 5 inning game after the varsity.
