The Delphi boys placed 3rd and the girls finished 5th at the Carroll/White County Championships last night. The Oracles had some awesome efforts put in last night led by Junior superstar Johnny Martinez. Johnny did the unthinkable by winning all 3 distance races. He won the 1600 meter run, the 800 meter run, and the 3200 meter run. If that wasn't enough, 10 minutes after winning the 3200, he ran the 3rd leg of the Championship 1600 Meter relay team. Beau Tate, Caleb Gottshall, and Brandon Terrell joined Johnny on the winning relay team. Senior sensation, Miah Sinks, had some magic of her own. Miah won the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, and was runner-up in the long jump. If that wasn't enough Miah not only broke her own school record in the 200, but also broke the meet record. Her record time is officially 26.24. Miah is also up for the Lafayette Area Athlete of the week, so make sure to get your vote in! Finishing up the Championship efforts for the Oracles were: Brandon Terrell with a win in the Pole Vault at a height of 13' 1. This vault puts as the 2nd best vaulter in Delphi history. Cayden Gasser won the shot put with a 45' 5.5" effort, that was over 2 feet better that his previous best. Cayden also finished 2nd in the discus. Other significant efforts were put in by: Sam Brown with a 2nd in the pole vault, Jaden Turner was 3rd in both hurdle events, Caleb Gottshall was 4th in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, Javon Frost was 3rd in pole vault, Beau Tate was 5th in the 400 meter dash, Lily Sandifur was 3rd in the high jump, Mckenzie Sandifur tied for 5th in the high jump, and Owen Broadstreet was 5th in the 800 meter dash. Congrats to all of the Oracles and they will compete in the HHC Championships on Friday! Go Oracles!
